Greg!

That is so great that you have made those changes. Thank you so much for sharing.
I agree with you - to think about the rest of your life is too overwhelming, and it's much more manageable to think about what you can do today. Congratulations!
One of the biggest changes that I have made recently in my life is to stop the consumption of alcohol - completely! At first, this seemed like a huge, if not impossible task for me which I was deathly afraid of. What would people think of me? How would I attend a Vikings game without drinking beer?

After closely examining the situation, I found that I was gaining absolutely nothing by drinking (except unwanted calories and the occasional hangover). I also thought about the amount of money that I would save by not buying drinks at $5-10 per drink. I also realized that choosing to not drink is WAY against the norm...

This is what motivated me to challenge myself. I was inspired to be different than most people. After nearly two months I am happy to report that the decision has been much easier than I thought. Sure, there are times when I would love to have a beer or a glass of wine, but then I just think about all of the positive reasons that I have come up with to not drink anymore.

Finally, any decision to change your lifestyle can be easier when you don't overwhelm yourself with the big picture (i.e. "I'm never going to drink again VS I'm not going to drink alcohol TODAY) The example of worrying about TODAY can be applied to any area of life. "I'm going to exercise for 20 minutes TODAY" instead of "I'm going to join a gym and lose 35 pounds"

You should be able to get one at any major sporting goods store- Target is likely carrying them now too. I suggest calling before driving around. Let me know if you have any problems finding one. Good luck!

Well there I was debating whether or not I would have time for a run this morning and I sat down to check emails and ran across this entry. It was then and there that my debate ended and I put on my running shoes and headed out. Thanks Elizabeth!
